What’s New with Wander Tears

March, 2022

Hey guys, Danny and Paige here! Welcome to this month’s “Whats New with Wander Tears” where we give you a little insight in to our lives and what Wander Tears has been up to lately.

Our biggest goal is to inspire and help get more people outside and into a teardrop trailer, whether you want to build it yourself or have us do it for you. This section of our blog is also where we will be sharing some exciting things for the future and what you can expect from us. Let’s get into it!

US

We have been busy working on custom teardrops and helping our DIY community with their builds. Last month we took our first camping trip of the year!

We went to “our local spot” by the lake and unplugged for the weekend. It was incredible to be back in nature and just spend some down time together.

Notch recently did an article about us, how we came about creating Wander Tears, and the social media side of our business. You can check out the post here!

We are also off to our first show of any sort with one of our teardrop trailers! We are headed to the Charleston Blue Grass Festival March 18-19 with one of our builds. If you’re in the are be sure to stop by and say hi!

Lastly we are now selling our popular USA galley map in our shop! We have been asked so many times about this map and where to buy it. We have used this map so many times during our travels as we usually decide where to go next while on a road trip. You can get your own here!

Builds

We have a very exciting new piece of equipment coming soon that will help us speed up production. This means our lead time is going to decrease quite a bit and we can get more custom campers out in less time!

We had one custom teardrop head up to New Jersey for a family of three, another one is taking off to Florida then out for a 4 month trip at the end of the month, and we have a few currently being built! You can check out our models and all the customizations here.

Did you know we have a $500 US military discount off our custom builds?

DIY

Plans

We love seeing DIYers building their own teardrops using our plans across the globe! When you get our detailed DIY plans your are also invited to our private build community on Facebook. This is where DIYers share their progress and can ask any questions related to building their teardrop.

Something very cool that has also come from the group is individuals from different countries sharing information on where to get materials and parts that are more difficult to find outside of the US. (Our DIY plans include links and part numbers for all materials, however some companies doing ship internationally).

DIY Plans are available for the Renegade, Vaga, and Hopper models. We also have added a 3D Vaga model with layers to our DIY page so you can easily manipulate the free 3D Vaga model to better visualize the components. (This model is included in the DIY Plans).

We also are working on plans for a 5’x10’ teardrop! Stay tuned if you’re looking for the extra space or have a bigger family!

Be sure to check out our other blog posts to see some of our featured DIYers. We also share a lot of our DIYer’s progress on Instagram in our feed and in our stories!

Trailer Frames

One of the most important parts of your teardrop build is the trailer frame. You want a strong foundation that can take you wherever you want to wander. Unfortunately, finding a quality trailer frame can also be one of the trickiest parts of the build process.

Upon popular request, we now supply steel trailer frames for DIYers! A few of DIYers have already picked up their frames from us for their builds, and we can’t wait to see their progress! Just like our teardrops, frames can be customized to meet your vision. From a basic frame to a fully off-road with wheels to match your vehicle.

All trailer frames come with a VIN, Bill of Sale, and Certificate of Origin which will make your life much easier when it comes time to register your teardrop.

Social Media

We are doing our best to post every other Thursday on YouTube! Check out our latest video where we talk about 7 mistakes to avoid on your first build. YouTube is where we can go into a little more depth or show more of a build step than other social media platforms. If there is anything specific you would like to see, let us know!

For daily build tips, travel inspiration, and helpful videos + photos, make sure you follow us on Instagram and Facebook.

Rent

Wander Tears now has two trailers for rent! We have our personal Vaga model and a Renegade model available. This is the perfect opportunity if you are considering building or buying a teardrop but want to try one out first, or if you’re just looking to have a heck of a time camping in a tiny trailer! And, it comes with UNLIMITED MILES! So you can use a teardrop camper the way it’s meant to be used. Check out the details here!

That is all we have for this months update! We hope you have an awesome March! I can’t believe it’s already halfway over! Now go make tons of progress on your teardrop build, and spend plenty of time outdoors!
