Patagonia Down Hoody

This jacket is honestly the best jacket I have ever owned. It’s extremely warm, while also light weight and packs down into its own pocket for compact storage. Since we purchased our Patagonia Down Sweaters, Danny and I have never gone on a trip without them. We love the style with the hood, but is also available without. 10/10 worth every penny (and there’s a lot of them).

Darn Tough Hiker Socks

These are the best darn socks! Darn Tough Hiker Socks are our go-to socks for hiking, backpacking, and all outdoor activities. The merino wool-based material is durable and works some sort of black magic to keep your feet from reaching their stink potential. They come in Men’s and Women’s, and have different thicknesses to match any climate. Not to mention, they have an unconditional lifetime guarantee: “If our socks are not the most comfortable, durable and best fitting socks you have ever owned, return them for another pair. No strings. No conditions. Socks guaranteed for life.” We have used these for countless adventures over the past four years, and there is not a single hole to show for it. 10/10 would get excited to have these in my stocking.

Salomon Hiking Boots

These boots are great for all seasons! Danny, myself, and both my brothers have the Salomon X Ultra 3 MID GTX W Hiking Boots (click here for women’s) and we could not love them more. They have a Gore-tex lining, which makes the boots waterproof and keeps your feet dry. They are also SO comfortable and your feet will be feeling great whether you’re out walking your dog or climbing a 14er. Unlike most boots, these are light weight and feel more like a running shoe, but provide the support and warmth needed in a boot.

Wool Headwear

If it drops below 50 degrees fahrenheit Danny requires a cozy helmet (he has no hair). We typically opt for wool or knit hats and headbands to maximize the heat retention. Some of our favorites include MERIWOOL, C. C., and Smartwool.

A Thick and/or Heated Blanket

If you’re a human like we are, being warm is a must if you want to get any darn rest while winter camping. We had Danny’s mom make us a custom blanket for those cold nights. One side is flannel, the other is faux fur (but very warm), with wool lining inserted in the middle. For those of you without a sewing mother, check out this sherpa blanket. We also have a heated throw that fits into our 12 volt plug and which creates radiant heat in the camper.

Happy camping and stay warm!
