Valentines Gifts for Outdoor Lovers

Chocolate & flowers are nice and all, but anything I can take camping immediately wins.

If you have entered a grocery store since the new year, you are more than aware that it is the season of LoOoVe! This valentines day, skip the chocolate and flowers (okay maybe a little chocolate…) and get your outdoorsy person something they will really love!

Here are our favorite gift ideas for outdoor lovers!

Gifts for Him

Darn Tough Socks

I don’t care what holiday it is or how many pairs of these I already own, I will be STOKED to get Darn Tough Socks! They are the best socks for hiking, keep my feet warm in the winter when I’m in the shop, and last forever. Like actually forever, the company will replace your socks if you somehow manage to destroy them. We both still have the same pairs we bought from REI for our first backpacking trip together 5 years ago.

Leatherman Multitool

We have The Wave Plus and love it! This thing has come in handy so may times we have been camping. It’s compact, light, and easily fits in your backpack.

This multitool has a quiver of 18 tools, including pliers, knives, spring-action scissors, wire stripper, replaceable wire cutters, saw, ruler, files, screwdrivers, and
can & bottle openers.

Blades

Okay, so blades is a bit broad. But we’ll leave the specific type up to you! There are three blades we like to keep with us whenever we camp.

  1. Hatchet. No man in the woods is a ‘real man’ without his trusty hatchet. Find one with a solid wood handle (Hickory, Oak or Ash) and high carbon steel head. It will outlast your children.

  2. Folding Bushcraft Saw. We have the Bahco Laplander. It folds up like a pocket knife and is perfect for sawing dead branches for firewood or building a bushcraft shelter.

  3. Bahco 2444 Tradesman Knife. This thing is super razor sharp stainless steel. This is different than a multi tool is, in that it does one thing well: CUT. It’s always good to have a sharp knife whether you need to shave wood or flint, or to cut a juicy steak.

First Aid Kit

Nothing says I care about you like a kit to keep them safe. I (Danny) whipped out our MyFAK first aid kit from My Medic this past week after cutting myself in the shop. Whether we’re building a teardrop or traveling in one, we always are prepared when it comes to safety supplies, and hope you are too!

DIY Teardrop Plans

This one is for our handy men (and women) out there. If you are thinking about building a teardrop trailer, our plans are there to help you expedite the process, have confidence in your work, and provide you with all the materials, parts, cuts, and links you need to make it happen.

Here’s what current DIYer Charlie in Ireland had to say:

“Finding the going easy using the plans. They are a huge time save and easy to understand. I am really enjoying the build.”

Gifts for Her

Polaroid Camera

Polaroid cameras are just plain nostalgic fun! Camping, hiking, and traveling is all about living in the moment. What’s more in the moment than taking a picture and immediately having a tangible picture?

Unlike our phones and digital cameras with seemingly endless storage and do-overs, there’s something special about a one and done, printed shot that captures memories.

Pendleton Blanket

These high-quality blankets are the perfect to throw in the car to go camping for the weekend. Pendleton Blankets can get up there in price, but if you’re anything like us, you know the value in good quality gear that is going to last for years to come.

Not only are they cozy and warm, but it also makes a great photo prop! Your outdoorsy lady will be ecstatic to get this gift for Valentines day! Here is our favorite print, and one that is a little smaller and easier on the budget.

Hydroflask Water Bottle

The amount of Hydroflask products we own is borderline absurd. But there’s a reason we love this quality brand!

Whether you get a giant bottle for road trips, a light weight one for hiking, coffee cups, a tumbler, or wine bottle with some matching wine glasses, you really can’t go wrong.

ENO Double Nest Hammock + Stand

If she doesn’t have a hammock yet, you have to get her one! I’ve had the same ENO double nest for at least 10 years. Does it have a few burn holes from campfires? Absolutely. But it its such high quality and has come on every camping trip I’ve been on since I got it.

If you frequently camp in the desert or on the coast where there aren’t a ton of trees available for hammock hanging, get her a hammock stand. We purchased one from Walmart mid cross country road trip last year because I wanted to cuddle while star gazing and we only had single camp chairs. Man is it a game changer! Incredible for stargazing, staying so much warmer, and now you can hammock literally anywhere!

Experience Gifts

Okay, so this is my personal favorite. We prioritize experiences together over any tangible gift. Packing up our teardrop for the weekend to a new destination is one of our favorite activities. Here are a few experience ideas that are sure to make the day extra memorable. (Bonus points if they are a surprise!)

Pack a Picnic

Pack her favorite meal and head to your local park. Everyone loves surprises, picnics and if she’s an outdoor lover you know shell love spending time outside with you.

Weekend Getaway

Valentines day falls on a Monday, which means the weekend before is the perfect time to head to a new or favorite destination together and soak in the quality time. We suggest a romanic cabin somewhere in the wood with a hot tub….

Sunrise (or Sunset) Hike

If you have an outdoorsy woman in your life, I guarantee she loves a good sunrise and sunset. Pack her favorite coffee (or wine), some snacks for the top, and surprise her with an outdoor adventure she is sure to love!

Rent a Camper

Thinking about building or buying a travel trailer of your own? Check out Outdoorsy, RVeasy, and RVshare for something you may be interested in and test it out for the weekend! There’s no better way to know what you want and need on the road than experiencing it.

We hope your Valentines day (and every day for that matter) are filled with love, adventure, and the great outdoors!
