Top 10 Teardrop Upgrades

These are our top 10 favorite upgrades that we believe level up your teardrop camping experience. From a spare tire to adding a whole other room, we’ve got you covered!

1. Spare tire and mount

This one speaks for itself! A spare tire is always a good idea but being able to have it mounted on the side of your teardrop saves space in your car, truck, or wherever else you’d store it. Find our prefered mount here!

2. 5 lb Propane Tank

A 5lb propane tank is fairly simple to install. You can easily hook it up to a hot water shower, stove, or heater. It lasts quite a while, is easy to refill, and you won't be going through a ton of those green 1lb bottles! Find ours here!

3. Removable cot

A removable cot increases sleeping space! When not occupied, you can roll up the cot to have more cabin space. It can also be used as a removable shelf and double as a projector screen.

4. Awning and Annex room

Find ours here!

Would you love to have a teardrop camper but don’t think you’ll all fit? We have an annex room that attaches to our teardrop awning and adds an extra 52 sqft of standing “living space”. We’ve used this room when the weather is rainy, there’s a lot of bugs, and now as a spare bedroom!

Pros:
•It’s pretty easy to set up, taking about 5 minutes
•There is a heavy duty floor that zips on so the
room is completely contained. (We still put a tarp underneath so we keep the floor attachment clean.)
•Screens on the doors and windows are great if you’re in a buggy area!
•Perfect spot for pups or kids that outgrow being
in the cabin with you (rooftop tent alternative).

5. Galley LED Strip

Not only is it fun to have different lighting options, but using an LED strip in your galley cabinets can help keep the bugs away at night. It also keeps your eyes adjusted to the dark without blinding you with overhead lights.

6. Roof Racks

Adding roof racks to your camper gives you an additional place to store your cargo. Toss a surfboard, suit case, or even a roof top tent up there. One item we definitely recommend attaching to your roof racks is an awning! It will keep you shielded from the sun or rain, so you can stay outside no matter the weather.

7. Stabilizer Jacks

Stabilizer jacks make leveling your tiny trailer simple, no matter where you’re parked. Either manually crank them down or use a power drill to get the job done in seconds.

They also put the camper on a sturdy foundation, rather than being on the axle which has some spring to it. So your teardrop won’t budge when you’re moving around inside or experiencing crazy winds. Find ours here!

8. Stargazer Window

Adding a stargazer window can help make your tiny camper feel a little more spacious. Plus you can still gaze at stars when it’s cold from the comfort of your bed!

9. Mounted privacy tent

We use our privacy tent for showers and changing. It’s easy to put out, and makes a HUGE difference being able to get out of the wind while showering. Find ours here!

10. Vent Fan

Every teardrop needs a vent fan! Not only does it create air flow to keep you cooler, but it also prevents condensation in cooler temperatures. Our recommendation is the 10 speed Maxx Fan 7500. The remote and thermostat are great, but the best part is the built in rain shield so you never have to worry about weather being an issue.

You can also control the direction of air flow. We typically leave it on the air out, or exhaust setting. Like an attic fan, it pulls air in the windows and out the vent, and this fan can create some air flow. Find ours here!
